Rosie, I swear you are my sister from a different mother :-) The smarter one who can perfectly and insightfully scribe my inner thoughts and feelings to a "T". Thanks, again - so appreciating your blog.
Aw, thank you, Sandy! I don't know about smarter — some of us are just more inclined toward writing. And for those of us who are, there's no better reaction we could get than yours. So, thanks again! I appreciate YOU!
I actually liked Season 3. No, it wasn’t as good as the original SATC but it was never going to be. But this season I found myself not hate watching and appreciating the story line and character development, which I found rather captivating. It felt more natural and you actually empathized for the plot situations they found themselves in.
I wish they’d brought back Trey MacDougal in some way. His character was so funny (“Charlotte, I know it’s juvenile but would you mind measuring my John Thomas?”). Also felt bad for Sid in Season 1 (she and Miranda could have made a great couple all along!).
I'm glad someone liked it! 🤣 I do kind of miss it, in an odd way, but I can't say I ever got to the point of liking it. Thanks for sharing your perspective! (But what did you think of the novel Carrie was writing?)
I thought it was a great plot device to get to this important revelation about Carrie (and to make a larger point about successful women in the dating world). Carrie finds herself attracted to Duncan because he's the first guy who ever saw her as smart first rather than just pretty. It's something she's not used to and finds herself really liking for a change.
It harkens back to her failed relationship with Berger. He couldn't handle being in a relationship with a woman more successful than him.
I guess that was the thing about Season 3 that I liked. There were certain issues for all the characters that you could feel and get into and relate to the characters and their personal struggle.
Lisa Todd Wexley struggling with a crush on her employee (she's the perfect role model mom and wife). Charlotte struggling with her anxiety over Harry's cancer diagnosis and being unable to share with others (she's always been a little anxious and this is something that would send her over the edge). Anthony watching everyone hit on his boyfriend right in front of him, oblivious that he could be with someone as good looking as Giuseppe (Anthony has always prided himself on his looks).
As for the novel itself, I don't know if it was that good. Then again, if it was, it probably wouldn't be in the tv show.
No, I completely missed SATC (other than reading about it). We had/have no TV, and didn't start any streaming until Netflix (and eventually Paramount+, Hulu, AppleTV, Passport, Hoopla . . .)
You've convinced me to not try either iteration.
May I recommend The Good Fight, The Morning Show, Dying for Sex, Elsbeth, the new Matlock, the old Matlock, Star Trek Strange New Worlds, Slow Horses and Black Dove (if you're OK with violence), and dearest of all (we've watched all three seasons, three times I think), Detectorists (on Hoopla). Series worth watching IMHO.
Thanks, Kristi! I've seen some of those, and there are so many good shows now. But the original SATC was a really important show, despite its flaws. If you don't believe me, read the post I linked to that I wrote a couple years ago. ;-)
Remember, I said it was an important show — not a good show. ;-) No need to watch it, and I doubt you'd feel the impact it had back then. It likely feels quite dated now.
I checked your 2023 post. OK. "the writing and acting were mediocre at best, the characters were shallow and two-dimensional, and so much about the show just didn’t make sense." I'll pass -- I'm much older than you, and life is too dang short!
Oh, here's a movie recommendation: look for "I'm Still Here." Our library had the DVD. Seriously good.
Never watched, just did not in anyway catch my attention, have never liked any of the main actors/characters, not peeps I would want to be around, don't even care to see them on talk shows like Stephen Colbert, etc. Really glad to read your analysis though. Confirmed that I wasn't missing much. Thanks.
I've only watched a few episodes of AJLT and come clips here and there, but enough to know that, yuck--leave well enough alone, already! Yep, SATC was deeply flawed, but it was SO refreshing to witness the sexual freedom, and lack of shame about it, enjoyed by these gals.
Hi Rosana! Wanted to tell you I really enjoyed this Flower Child post - thanks for explaining to me why this show was relevant because I just didn't get it. I remember watching one episode and wishing Carrie would come down with some degenerative Neurological disease. Didn't bring out the best in me obviously, but I must have picked a dud episode because I don't remember any talk of sex. Oh well. Hope to see you soon!
LOL — thanks for the laugh, I needed that! It was definitely a Highly Flawed Show — even, dare I say, a Very Bad Show. But still fun, still revolutionary. You're right, the characters kind of sucked. But still ... Thanks for reading and commenting!

Oh, and Cupheads.
Enjoy!

I shall try one show. It's streaming on one of our platforms.

I remember watching The Borgias at your place - so bad but also so good
That was Rafael's show — like many other "guilty pleasure" shows, basically a soap opera, but he could justify it by its historical bent. ;-)

Thank you! The original show had something to it, despite the characters being problematic. The new one, though — very skippable!

You're a stronger woman than I am, lol! But yes, "yuck."
