I regret not having made longer lasting friendships. Now in my dotage, I find myself aching for friends. I still have some truly excellent and admirable friends, so I'm fortunate that a few have tolerated me so far. But there are some I believe I offended, or misplaced, or from whom I simply wandered away. It is a curiosity, is it not, that you don't know what you've got, till it's gone.
So many rings and webs! My junior high and high school years were made better by you, Mary, and Susan including me in your friend group. I was a much better social fit with Uni High students than with many at Urbana HS.
I don't know as many of my neighbors as I'd like. With a lake in back, a busy county road in front, and no sidewalk, I don't meet them. I'm hoping to get our tiny (24 household) lake association together in person sometime this year.
24 households doesn't sound too tiny for social interactions, as long as many of them show up. We have a nice neighborhood association (not an HOA, much more casual), but events have slowed down since covid started. At least that's something. Best wishes for yours! Sounds like you live in a nice place.

Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall...
I always tell Rafael that he brought some very high-quality friends to our relationship!
It's normal for some friends to wander away over time. But we still have some good ones!
Enjoy your trip and make more friends. I love brief encounters with folks while traveling. I talk to everyone and I’m never disappointed!!
