Kind of reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where Elaine is trying to get her medical records because they have written that she's a complainer.

I left an honest review on an Airbnb once, stating the great things, and the bad things about the apartment. The host got mad and wrote that I must not have traveled at all, blah, blah, blah. He got so defensive even though I mentioned so many good things about the place!

Haha, yes! There's a Seinfeld episode for everything. And wow, that Airbnb host did not have you pegged at all! Sheesh.

I remember that episode. They unfairly marked her down as "difficult".

Yes! I’m so tired of this! My email inbox is full of requests for reviews. How did you like this product give us a review. Every time you go to the car dealership for service. “Nothing less than 10 on our satisfaction survey is acceptable” We just purchased a house & now I’m getting hounded by the realtor & the mortgage broker for reviews. However, I also have all the guilt! I feel bad if I don’t leave one but don’t want to jeopardize someone’s job with a bad review! I’m a bit of a hypocrite with Amazon I never take the time to leave a review but often count on them to decide which version of a particular item I should buy! 🤷🏻‍♀️

For sure, I also often rely on Amazon or Yelp reviews. But then, some people seem to really enjoy sharing their opinion. I don't know how they find the time!

If I click on the heart icon, does that count as a "rating"? Well, I did. Sorry. Perhaps. Not sure. It seems we've turned our lives into a weird ongoing popularity contest in which all we say or touch or receive or send comes with ratings. I want a Dismiss All option!

Yes, always click on the heart icon for Flower Child! Always! ❤️

I can't begin to review all the items I've purchased on Amazon, even though I am prompted to review them. I do it only if I happen to have time, or if it's something I particularly love, like a CD or music download. Then there are the "bribes", like the offers I get to review a product positively in exchange for a gift or gift card. Anyway, good article about something that's more and more a part of our lives these days, but that I haven't seen anybody else write about.

Thanks, Steve! Yes, sometimes I see long reviews on Amazon and wonder if those people spend a lot of their free time writing reviews. People seem to love sharing their opinions, though!

Ha ha, how do you like my response?

1. Beat it.

2. Get a life.

3. Grow up.

Depends who it's addressed to!

Not to you, of course. I must get 3-4 of these requests daily. I used to think that perhaps someone's job was at stake, then I thought service was bound to improve. I don't think that way anymore.

Companies are all about metrics — but it's really gotten out of hand!
