I love this idea of scruffy hospitality! I’m one of those that is constantly concerned about what the house looks like etc. which if I’m honest looks presentable much of the time!
You're not alone in that! Most of us are too concerned about what our houses look like, and we may miss opportunities to connect with people on account of that. It's an ongoing challenge to change that way of thinking, which most of us were brought up with!
I love this post, Rosana. I agree 100% that it is so important to create and be involved with the gatherings of friends. I'm so glad that we have in fact, tried and succeeded getting together despite the distance between LA and the Bay area; exploring new areas and sharing our friendship. We're due for another one. I wish we could be closer to you guys.
Nice post! Our friends and I have found several ways to get together. We have a monthly poker game which is more about conversation than wagering. Only a $20 buy-in, and the host prepares dinner. We rotate being the host. We also have scheduled parties that are attended by many friends. I host an annual New Year's Day party, being sure to invite neighbors. Another friend hosts solstice parties, and another hosts a May Day party. Yes, it is good to connect with our friends and neighbors.

Yes, we are due! I'm glad you guys are within driving distance, but we'd love to have you in the Bay Area!

That is the way to be!!
What a beautiful post! Love this "scruffy hospitality" idea.
Thanks, Ashley! Let's make it the norm!
Is Scruffy Hospitality the new Home & Garden? Let’s invite some folks over and discuss.
I hope it is — it should be!
